Two weeks ago, I discovered that one of my nieces can sing very well. My sister, whom she lives with, was surprised to hear her sing. She pretended she was not listening to the song until she had the girl finish it. Because they live kilometers away from where I live, I seldom see this small girl. One time when they visited me, and I and my sister were talking, she related it to me. Excited to find out if it is true, I asked my niece to sing what she has been singing. Oh my, I was delighted to hear her song. She is six years old. The lyrics of the song are given more impact when a six-year old is singing it.
The song goes,
God created twinkling stars
He created rivers flow
He created mountains high
God created me
That's not the reason why I love Him
But because he gave his Son
For all the world to see
At Calvary.
I was impressed! (Not because she is my niece.) Relating to myself, it was when I was in my high school years that I found out that I am capable of singing. Given a chance to develop the gift of singing at an early age would have been great. Anyway, I wanted to help this young girl develop her voice for God's glory. She joined in one of our outside performances and the brethren were pleased to hear a little girl sing from her heart. Since she was singing in English, I was trying to help her pronounce correctly. Just like many children, she was teachable. It is far easier to teach children than people who know too much. May I be teachable like this niece when the Lord teaches me.
I hope that I can meet your little neice someday, and I pray that God will use her voice to bring him glory.
