I asked my team mate, a niece and a friend (who I think very good in linguistics-I am not:( ) about the Kalanguya equivalent for stress and she gave me at least four words. Before I asked her, I grappled for the word, but could not find it. Then I begin to think of our ancestors who I think did not have any trace of stresses. I also do not often see them get sick. Needless to say, the people in our village in the early days lived without having have to worry about a lot of things because they live one day at a time. Their minds were not preoccupied with so many things to do here and there.
I wanted to think of a Kalanguya word for stress because, while in school I have been experiencing this stress thing. What does stress do to a person? When a person is stressed, what message does it communicate?- lack of faith or just a matter of discipline of the mind? It sounds like it does no good to a person. No one wants to be stressed, but it happens! I want to be more relaxed and not be disturbed. Is it right to say that it is one of the effects of what people consider today "civilization?" I would sound bias if I answer that question. I wish life had not become so complicated. But let us face it! While the world is rolling, the need to be aware and be watchful of pitfalls in the environment we live in could limit our being effective people of God. God wants us to function in the way that the image of God is seen in us. Thus, whether we are in a state of being challenged or not, we exhibit his grace and goodness.
