A relative who is close to us had his two adopted children dedicated today. My team (ministry team) in the office where we translate were asked to handle the program. They invited a pastor to give the message. The pastor has known this relative of ours for quite sometime. In fact, he also spoke in one of his birthday celebrations. This relative happens to have a position in the government. He rose to mayorship and has been holding this position for three consecutive terms. In his youth, he was looked up to for being a spiritual adviser. I and my other relatives are in one accord that he seems to have lost that zeal for his faith. Faith that is exemplary is like that of a child. It is a faith that does not rationalize, but simply believes what God says in His word without casting any doubt as if he does not know what 1+1 is.
A heart to heart dialogue with people close to him- brothers and sisters, gave a way for him to recall how exemplary his faith had been to the youth. In the dialogue, he accepted rebukes with a humble heart to the point of shedding tears. May he get back to where his life once rolled, and keep upholding the faith with his prestige that was meant to be used to advance God's kingdom. My prayer for this brother has not ceased. I pray that he may stand firm in his faith despite living in a world where compromise is common. May his faith be like that of Daniel who was not afraid of letting the world know that he is a believer, and who stood even to the point of death. As a result, God was glorified. Am I still making compromises to fit the standard of the world? Lord, make me like you!
