This way.....learning from others..

Whenever I go to a place, I see to it that I sit a bit far from people. Inveterate that I am, I stay at an angle where I would see almost everyone and observe how and what they do. Because of this, I see different scenarios, happy and sad scenes are obvious without having to interrogate or get involved in the incident.

When I went to the US embassy for my VISA application, I learned something from what I observed. It is my first time to be there so I really do not know what to do. I tried to follow the directions posted on the wall, but sometimes I still get lost. In one of the places where we were in queue for the submission of our passport, an elderly man was trying to look around to see where we are going, wondering if he should join us. I was not brave enough to ask what he wants because I am afraid that I might be in the wrong line. Seeing one of the resource people who tells applicants where to go next, she gladly approached him, and I felt relieved as if I was the one whom she ushered. There were people whom she gave direction without me hearing them even saying a word of thanks to this woman. At times, these small chunks of services offered to us are taken for granted. How ungrateful people can be. In another place, raining as it was, going down a staircase after taking an overpass, I saw a man helping an elderly woman who could hardly climb the stairs to get to the other side of the road. While I was passing by, I heard the man asking the older woman where is she going while his hand held one on the woman's hands. It was an act of kindness I wish every human would have instead of being egoistic.
One of the things God desires in people is a thankful heart!

I left the US embassy by leaving a note to the lady appreciating her effort (though it may be her job). Yet it is never wrong to appreciate a good deed!
