A Robber?

I was bound for the province today. I wanted to leave last night but missed the bus. So I decided to catch an early bus today at 4:30 in the morning.

I woke up at 4 and I still needed to take a ride going to the bus station. I had to hurry then. I tried not to make sound (because our gate produces sound when you close it. I wanted to be kind to our neighbors even if they make noise in the middle of the night and very early in the morning) by locking the gate slowly. I put back the gate and locked it without making so much noise.

I took about five steps when I could see a light from my back with a psssst, teka sandali (psst, wait for a second). Then I heard "babarilin kita" (I'll shoot you!). Then I realized these must be barangay police. You might guess why they wanted me to remain still.

Two men came near and asked me what the things were inside of what I was carrying. I told them it is my stuff. I told them, I rent this appartment. They still wanted to prove I was not a robber (Do I look like one?-with an angelic face like this:) and may not the lightning strike me (I am just kidding!). I even asked Esther to come out for a while but she could not because she was not in the proper attire. Because I spoke in English when I called my wife, the guy asked what is her nationality...blah blah blah (I was not interested in answering his questions because I needed to leave). From then... as he and his companion moved to where their comapanions are seated inside a car, the other guy started to shout to his team mates "...his wife is a foreigner......"

I was not sure if they were afraid of talking to my wife in English if she were to come out or if they figured out that I am not a robber. For they left after learning that my wife is a foreigner.

I was becoming quite impatient because I know I will be late for the 4:30 bus. I remained calm knowing that they could just be doing their job protecting the neighborhood (I hope...) from burglars.

The bus left 10 seconds after I hopped in.

God is still good even when circumstances seem bad.
