A few days ago, I went to visit my former Grade I teacher. She has just retired from teaching when she turned 60. She had a mild stroke after hearing a bad news about what happened to one of her relatives.
Anyway, while we were talking, we tried to recall how her class with us was. She only stayed there for a year but I think her impact as a teacher to us was remarkable. I would say she is an excellent teacher. My memory of her as a teacher is still vivid.
In our conversation, I asked, "I wish there are teachers like you." She commented that there are excellent teachers today when we speak of brain, they just lack dedication. Which I think it is true. Many dedicated teachers attend not only the intellectual aspect of their students but even their emotional, social life.
I then recall how a former disciple gave his time to teach me of God's word. He was patient even when I often tried to escape in our schedule.
May I be a teacher with what I say and do...that others may be touched while I live.
By the way, my teacher was so grateful that I could pay a visit to her. She said, I can drop by their place any time. A former friend or long lost teacher might be waiting for you to pay a visit:)
