I read a passage in the book of Kings. It talked about a prophet who was told by God not to go back to the route he came or he would die. When someone told him to go back, he did not listen to the person. He kept going. Along the way, another prophet told him to go back the way he came. He was convinced by that another prophet and forgot what the Lord told him. He lost his focus.
As it was first told by God that he would die if he disobeys, the a lion killed him just as the God said. The other prophet who convinced him was not punished.
I was feeling bad after reading the story because the other prophet who convinced him was not sanctioned (in my finite mind) as if I was questioning why God did not punish Him?
I realized that the prophet's accountability was not on the man but on God whom he serves. He was notto blame the other prophet because it was God who told him so.
Often in life, it is easier to take off our focus on Jesus. Or we blame someonelse when something wrong happens. Yet when we know that our accountability is on God, there is no reason to blame others, not my wife, brother, sister, dad, mom or friends.
