Did You Cast Your Vote? Part 2

I was apprehensive about how my nephew might react once I tell him that I did not vote for him. Two days after he drew the winning lot, I told him that I did not vote for any barangay captain candidate. In the middle of my conversation with him that day, I suddenly blurted out saying, "What if I tell you that I did not vote for you?" Two days ago, I could picture how he was so grateful that I came home. He was gracious to tell me, "Andi pahding nem hiyaman ngoy wadad nemnem mo!" (There is nothing we can do if that is what is in your heart). My father also did not cast his vote which could have easily made him win. There were three candidates who were neck to neck. The two tied at 138 votes each while the other candidate had 137 votes. Wasn't it suspenseful? There are things humans can't control that only God can.

My nephew and I began to talk more on deeper issues such as his beliefs and principles etc.... In the end of our conversation, he was happy when I said that I am open should he have issues he might want to ask about in the future.

Always go with your gut instinct. Having said that, it's rare but this incident happened in the state of Louisiana years back. You had no choice if you were to vote, and it was either the Evil or the Crook for Governor. It wasn't really a difficult choice but it was sensationalized by the media. The crook (Edwards)prevailed over the Evil (David Duke) Head Honcho of the Ku Klux Klan.
You did the right, and wish more voters have your genes. Cheers!

  2. hehe, paano kung ang dahilan is that I opted not to vote because it is a choice between my first cousin, second cousin, or my nephew, and i can't make up my mind? LOL! sana ba dumami pa rin ang lahi ko? tanong lang po to trublue.... :)

Opting not to vote for either of them is good too. Hope your entire village is like that, hehe.
Imagine, no one will vote, except the candidates themselves. So it's always a tie! Let them just toss the coin to decide winnah!
    Just a thought..cheers manen!

  4. thing is, that's exactly what happened. there was a tie and they had to draw lots... ayun, nanalo pa rin ang pamangkin ni bet-ew :) unang bumunot yung isa, then ang hindi nabunot is yung winning twig! :) yun ang naiwan dun sa nephew niya!

  5. I'm glad your nephew was open to talking with you and your reasons for not voting for him.

I went home planning to vote but my name wasn't on the voter's list. It turns out they delete your name if you haven't voted in the past three elections hehe.

Although sa amin, marami ding blank ang kanilang captain because they can't decide among the candidates either because they are all bad (in that voter's perspective) or because they're all friends/relatives of said voter.
